Lee's Summit

The Jays made the trip to Lee's Summit to battle the Tigers for the second consecutive day. This one was all Blue Jays from the first inning until the final pitch. The Jays jumped out with 3 in the first with RBI's from Anderson and a 2 run home run from Sierra Persinger. That was only the beginning as the Jays would pile on and score 13 runs to take this game 13-2. Sierra Persinger ended the game with 3 hits and 5 RBI's including 2 home runs. Malia Cabuyaban and Josselyn Frey combined together to be strong in the circle. The Jays are now 2-0 in conference play and 7-7 overall.

Lee's Summit

The Jays opened up conference play with a 4-3 win over the Lee's Summit Tigers. All the scoring was done in the first two innings. The Jays took a 4-3 lead in the second inning and Malia Cabuyaban shut the door on the Tigers for the rest of the game. The Jays are now 1-0 in conference play and 6-7 overall.

Lee's Summit West

The tough schedule for the Jays continued as they hosted the Titans from Lee's Summit West. The Jays jumped out to a 5-0 lead with a 5 run 3rd inning. Sierra Persinger had a 2 RBI double and Savannah Floresch had an RBI single in the inning. That 5 run lead wasn't enough as the Titans chipped away and eventually got 2 in the 7th to take the game 6-5. The Jays are now 5-7 on the season.

Saturday of the Kati Williams Leadoff Classic

The Gold Bracket of the Leadoff Classic from Omaha brought more good teams the Blue Jays way. They started the day with a game against powerhouse Columbia Rock Bridge. The Jays battled all game but dropped a close on 4-2 as time ran out. The last game of the day saw the Jays take on the host school Papillion LaVista South. In a back and forth game, the Jays would run out of time and drop a close on 5-4. Overall the Jays went 2--2 in the Kati Williams Leadoff Classic.

The Jays opened the 2023 season by participating in the Greater Kansas City Invitational. It was a good 5 games overall for the Jays who ended up going 3-2 and finishing 3rd in the Gold Bracket. The Jays opened up play with a solid victory over Fort Osage before dropping the next game of pool play to Odessa. Still, the Jays were in the Gold Bracket and that matched them up Saturday with Holden. The Jays cruised to a 10-3 victory behind three home runs for the game. Malia Cabuyaban hit 2 home runs and Sierra Persinger hit 1 home run. Kearney was the matchup in the semifinal game and the Jays jumped out to an early lead but eventually fell 7-3. The 3rd Place game saw the Jays take on the Titans of Lee's Summit West. West took an early 5-0 lead but the Jays batted back to score 7 in the 4th to take the lead. The Titans would eventually tie it at 7 but the Jays would win on a walk off hit by Savannah Floresch.

Game 30

The Jays took on the Liberty North Eagles in the Class 4 District 15 District Championship game.  The Jays were looking for their second consecutive District Championship. The bottom of the 1st saw the Jays take a 1-0 lead on an RBI single from Joslyn Thieme.  The next 3 runs of the game would come from the Eagles and they led the Jays 3-1 going into the bottom of the 3rd.  The Jays started the bottom of the 3rd with 4 consecutive hits and quickly tied the game.  The go ahead 2 RBI double came off the bat of Sydney Mallot and the Jays would never trail again.  They would tack on 3 more in the 4th capped off by a solo shot from Kelsee Mortimer and would tack yet another 3 on in the 6th with home runs by Mortimer and Howerton.  Thieme would close out the Eagles in the 7th and the Jays would claim their second consecutive District Title by a score of 11-3.  The Jays are now 25-5 on the season and travel to play Staley in Sectionals on Wednesday.

Game 27

In what was the Suburban Red Conference Championship game, the Jays traveled to Staley to take on the Falcons.  The Falcons struck first with a single tally in the bottom of the 2nd inning to take the lead 1-0.  The Jays response was immediate.  In the top of the 3rd, the Jays moved runners and executed on the base paths to take a 3-1 lead.  RBI's went to Marra Cramer and Kelsee Mortimer.  That would be all that senior Joslyn Thieme needed for the day.  She would pitch 7 strong innings striking out 8 to earn the victory.  With this win, the Jays captured the Suburban Red Conference Championship outright! This is our 3rd consecutive Conference Championship! The Jay finished the conference season 10-2 and improved their season record to 23-4.  Next up is a trip to Lee's Summit North for a non-conference tune up on Friday.

GAME 26
The Jays hosted cross-town rival the Liberty North Eagles for Senior Night.  It was a quick moving game that saw a 0-0 score through 4 innings.  The Eagles were able to get 2 runs across in the 5th to jump to a 2-0 lead.  The Jays would bounce right back with 2 in the bottom of the 5th to tie it up. The bottom of the 6th was the inning the Jays would take the lead.  A single by Sydney Mallot would put the Jays on top 3-2 .  Senior Kaylee Parker would deliver a 2-run triple to make it 5-2 Jays.  Joslyn Thieme would shut the Eagles down in the 7th to earn the victory.  The Jays improve to 22-4 overall and 9-2 in conference play.Game 26

Game 25

In the Championship game of the Blue Division of the Springfield Invitational, the Jays took on the Broncos of Lee's Summit North.  It was a wild game as both teams were worn slick from the long weekend of games.  The Jays couldn't ever get it going and they fell to the Broncos. It was a great overall weekend for the Jays going 4-1.

Game 22

Game two of the Springfield Invitational matched the Jays against the Lady Chiefs from Kickapoo.  The Jays busted out a big inning in the first to take a 6-0 lead and wouldn't look back.  They were able to add a couple more runs later in the game and cruise to a 9-1 win.  The Jays improved to 19-3 overall with this win.  Next up will be three more games in the Springfield Invitational.

Game 21

It was the first game of the Springfield Invitational for the Jays and they took on Logan-Rogersville.  The Wildcats got out to a 3-0 lead with a big first inning.  The Jays would get single tallies in the 1st and the 4th but they came to the plate in the bottom of the 5th trailing 3-2.  The Jays exploded for 6 runs in the bottom of the 5th to take a commanding lead 8-3 and that would end up being the final.  The Jays improved to 18-3 overall with this win.

Game 19

It was a trip to conference rival Park Hill South for the Jays on Tuesday.  The Jays struck early with 3 runs in the first.  Kelsee Mortimer belted her 2nd home run on the year to extend the lead to 4-0.  Some sloppy play by the Jays allowed Park Hill South to get 2 runs to close the gap.  The Jays immediately responded with 2 more of their own.  The Panthers would answer with 2 more and again the Jays would counter with another 2.  South scored 2 in the 7th, but the Jays would go on to win the game 8-6.  Joslyn Thieme got the W in the circle and also had a perfect 5-5 day at the plate.  The Jays improved to 7-2 in conference play and 16-3 overall on the season.  They will host Truman on Wednesday.

Game 18

The Jays returned to conference play hosting the Tigers of Lee's Summit.  The Jays struggled early and found themselves facing a deficit after two innings.  The middle innings would see a little bit of back and forth play and the Jays would take the lead in the 5th on
