Title IX

Title IX Prohibits Sexual Harassment and Sexual Violence in Public Schools.

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (20 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq.) is a federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in educational programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance. This includes sexual harassment, sexual assault, sexual violence, sexual battery, sexual coercion, and other forms of sex-based discrimination prohibited under Title IX.

The Liberty 53 School District is committed to providing a learning and work environment free from sex discrimination, sexual harassment, and sexual violence. In accordance with federal law, the District has adopted policies and procedures for preventing, reporting, investigating, and responding to allegations of sexual harassment under Title IX.

The Liberty 53 Board of Education has adopted Board Policy ACA, which defines prohibited conduct under Title IX and outlines the District's grievance procedures for responding to complaints. View Board Policy ACA for additional information.

Complaints alleging discrimination or harassment based on race, color, national origin, disability, or sex that does not fall within the scope of Title IX should be addressed under Board Policy AC.

Title IX Coordinator

The Liberty Public Schools Board of Education has designated the following individual to serve as the District's Title IX Coordinator. The Title IX Coordinator oversees the District's compliance with Title IX by receiving reports, coordinating the grievance process and supportive measures, and ensuring complaints are addressed promptly and equitably in accordance with federal law and Board Policy ACA.
