After three weeks of practice, the Jays were ready to play in the opening tournament of the 2021 season.  Adair Park was the scene for all the games.  In pool play, the Jays defeated Belton 12-0 behind a home run by Sierra Persinger and strong pitching from Lauren Slocum.  Slocum struck out 7 and threw a 5 inning no-hitter!  The second game of pool play saw the Jays defeat St. Joe Lafayette 13-2.  Sydney Malott hit a 3 run home run to spark the offense and Malia Cabuyaban was solid in the circle.  She allowed only 2 hits while striking out 9 in her varsity debut. The two wins set up the Jays for the Gold Bracket on Saturday.

The first game of Bracket play saw the Jays take care of Kearney 13-1.  Laruen Slocum was solid in the circle and Marra Cramer provided a 3 run home run.  A tough Grain Valley team awaited the Jays in the semi finals and they took care of business 6-3.  Another home run for Marra Cramer in addition to a 2 RBI triple led the Jays offensively.  Malia Cabuyaban was solid in the circle again striking out 6.  The Jays advanced to the Championship game for the first time since 2014.  Ray-Pec awaited the Jays in the championship game and Sydney Malott got things started on the right foot with a 2 run home run in the first.  The Panthers would battle back for 1 run.  In the bottom of the 6th, the Jays blew the game open with two big two out doubles. Makenna Codding doubled in 2 and Marra Cramer followed that with another 2 run double.  Lauren Slocum pitched 5 innings and Malia Cabuyaban pitched the final 2 to seal the deal and a 6-1 Blue Jay victory! The Jays are the Greater Kansas City Invitational Tournament Champions! It is the fist GKC Championship since 2011! The Jays are 5-0 to start the season.
